Florida

Oma und Opa sind fuer 4 Wochen bei uns zu Besuch und gleich zum Anfang haben wir uns fuer eine Woche Urlaub in Florida getroffen. Leider hat sich Emmi rechtzeitig zum Abflug erstmal noch eine Erkaeltung mit hohem Fieber eingefangen und war die ganze Woche nicht ganz gesund, aber zum spielen am Strand, im Pool und einem Zoobesuch hat es trotzdem gereicht. Oma und Opa wiederzusehen fanden wir sowieso alle schoen. Die Zeit war dann auch wieder viel zu schnell um und inzwischen sind wir wieder zurueck in Texas. Oma und Opa bleiben zum Glueck noch bis Ende Feburar.

Oma and Opa are visiting for 4 weeks and and we met them in Florida for a one week vacation. Unfortunately Emmi got sick with a bad cold and fever the day we left and wasn't a 100 percent most of the time but she had fun anyway. We got to go to the beach, the Zoo and played in the Pool. We were all excited to see Oma and Opa again. The time went by fast and we are already back in Texas. Fortunatly Oma and Opa are staying until the end of February.

Crazy Hair

I get jealous every time I see a kid Emmi's age with lots of hair and cute littel pigtails and bourettes. There isn't even enough hair on Emmi to put a bourette in that doesn't fall out 5 minutes later. And I am not sure if I'll ever finish Emmi's Babybook about her first year, since it asks for a picture of her first haircut. If her hair keeps growing at the current rate she'll be a teenager by the time. But she surely does have enough hair for it to get tangeld and crazy every morning and I love it. There is no sweeter picture then my little monkey having breakfast in her PJ's with Jelly all over her face and her hair sticking up in every possible direction. And everytime we get dressed and ready and I comb her hair I am a little glad that I only have to detangle short blond curls instead of a full head of hair. But of course a soon as I see little pigtails I am jealous again.
Ich bin jedes Mal eifersuechtig wenn Ich Kinder in Emmi's Alter mit Zoepfen und Spangen im Haar sehe. Emmi hat nicht mal genug Haare um eine einzelne Spange fuer laenger als 5 Minuten zu befestigen. Und ich bin mir nicht sicher ob Emmi's Babybuch jemals fertig wird da dort nach einem Foto vom ersten Haarschnitt verlangt wird. Wenn Emmi's Haare so weiterwachsen ist sie dann schon im Teenager alter. Aber sie hat auf jeden Fall genug Haare um morgens mit einem Wuschelkopf aufzuwachen. Es gibt kein besseres Bild am Morgen als mein kleines Aeffchen am Fruehstueckstisch im Schlafanzug, mit Marmelade um den Mund und Haaren die in alle Richtungen abstehen. So suess. Und jedesmal wenn wir uns fertig machen und ich ihre Haare durchkaemmen muss und Emmi ein bisschen jammert bin ich dann doch ein bisschen froh dass sich die Mahne noch in Grenzen haelt. Aber sobald ich dann kleine Maedchen mit Zoepfen sehe bin ich natuerlich wieder ein bisschen eifersuechtig...

Emmi hat viele Freunde und spielt super gerne mit allen. Emmi has lots of friend already and lots of fun with all of them.

We had dinner with Audrey, Will, Serra and Alex on the weekend and we actually managed to get all four of our kids in one picture and we even got one of them looking at the camera!!

Am Wochenende waren unsere Freunde Will, Audrey, Serra und Alex bei uns zum essen und wir haben es geschafft alle unsere Kinder gleichzeitig auf ein Foto zu bekommen und eins schaut sogar zur Kamera!!!

Wir haben mit unseren Freunden Will und Audrey ins neue Jahr gefeiert und haben es nach zwei verschlafenen Sylvester endlich mal wieder geschafft auch tatsaechlich wach zu bleiben!! Emmi ist um 21 Uhr ins Bett gegangen, war aber um 23 Uhr rechtzeitig wieder wach um mit Ihrer Freundin Avelyn ins neue Jahr zu feiern. Die zwei sahen um Mitternacht frischer aus als alle vier Erwachsenen.

We celebrated New Years Eve with our friends Will and Audrey and actually managed to stay awake after we soundly slept through the last two New Years Eves. Emmi went to bed at nine but was up again at eleven to party with her friend Avelyn. The two of them looked more awake at midnight then any of us adults.

Merry Christmas

Hier sind enlich unsere Weihnachtsfotos. Wir haben Weihnachten mit Dugans Familie in Houston verbracht. Diesmal kam die ganze "Foreman" Seite der Familie zusammen (von Dugans Mutter). Innerhalb von einer Woche haben wir damit die gesamte Familie getroffen!! Einige von Dugans Cousars mit Familie habe ich zum ersten Mal kennengelernt. Fuer Emmi galt mal wieder das Motto "umso mehr umso besser", sie hat einfach wahnsinnig gerne Leute um sich herum.

Here are our Christmas pictures...finally. We spent Christmas with Dugans Family in Houston and had a great time visiting with everybody. Literally everybody... Within one week we got to visit with everybody on the Trevathan and Foreman side of the family!! What a seldom treat. I got to meet some of Dugans Cousins and their families for the first time. Emmi had a blast. For Emmi it was as always the more the merrier... She just loves to have lots of people around.

The funny things she does - Was Emmi so lustiges macht

* Heute beim Fruehstueck hat Emmi mich zu ueberzeugen versucht das ihr Loeffel gar kein Loeffel ist, sondern ein Baby!! Sie hat ihn immer wieder Baby genannt, mit einem Tuch abgeputzt und wie eine Puppe im Arm gehalten und gewiegt. Als ich vorgeschlagen habe, dass sie doch bitte mit dem Loeffel ihr Muesli aufessen soll, hat sie mich angeschaut als haette ich sie nicht mehr alle.

* At breakfast she tried to convince me that her spoon wasn't actually a spoon but a baby. She kept calling it baby and got a rag to wipe it off and then cradled it in her arms like she does with her baby dolls and rocked it. And she looked at me like I was some kind of crazy person when I suggested she should use it to finish her cereal.

*Spaeter kamen dann Audrey und Avelyn zum spielen vorbei. Avelyn ist hingefallen und hat geweint und Audrey hat sie getroestet und dann gestillt. Emmi hat sich alles ganz genau angeschaut und dann die ganze Szene nachgespielt, inklusive hinfallen, weinen und traurig gucken, um am Ende in meinem Arm zu liegen und stillen zu wollen. Ich habe sie seit 2 Monaten nicht mehr gestillt aber Emmi fragt immer noch jeden Tag danach. Sie ist eine richtige kleine Schauspielerin! Natuerlich hab ich jetzt wieder ein schlechtes Gewissen dass ich sie abgestillt habe :(

*Later my friend Audrey and nine months old Avelyn came over to play. Avelyn fell and started whining and Audrey comforted her and then nursed her. Which prompted Emmi, who was watching really carefully, to drop on the floor, act like she was hurt and then cuddle up in my arms and ask to nurse. I stopped nursing her two months ago but she just can't forget about it. She is quite an actress I have to say. And of course now I feel guilty again for weaning her when she obviously wasn't ready to :(

* Am Nachmittag haben wir uns dann Fotos auf dem Computer angeschaut und Emmi hat fast einen Heulkrampf bekommen als sie ein Foto von sich selbst mit ihrer Lieblingspuppe Tidoo im Arm gesehen hat. Sie dachte das "andere" Baby hat Tidoo geklaut. Selbst als ich ihr Tidoo geholt habe konnte sie sich noch nicht so recht beruhigen.

*In the afternoon we were looking at pictures on the computer and she saw a picture of herself holding her favourite doll Tidoo. She started throwing a fit about that baby in the picture holding Tidoo!! She still was mad at that "other" baby, even after I went and got Tidoo for her so she would see that nobody stole him.
