Body Art
Emmi hat im Moment gerade ihre kuenstlerische Phase. Sie malt gerne mit Buntstiften, Filzstiften und spielt mit Knete, aber am allerliebsten malt sie mit Fingerfarben wobei sie nicht einmal unbedingt Papier braucht um ein echtes Kunstwerk zu gestalten.
Emmi is in her artistic phase right now and loves to color, draw and play dough. But her favourite are fingerpaints. She doesn't even need paper to create a real piece of art.
Big Hail
Letzte Woche hatten wir einen ziemlich grossen Hagelschlag in Austin. Dugans Auto war zum Glueck in der Garage und nur mein Auto hat paar kleine Dellen abbekommen aber ansonsten hatten wir zum Glueck keinen grossen Schaden. Emmi fand es gar nicht toll, dass wir sie nicht mit den ganzen Baellen im Garten spielen lassen wollten.
We got some big Hail last week. Dugans Car was in the garage and only my car got a few little dings but other than that we didn't have much damage luckily. Emmi got upset because we wouldn't let her go outside to play with all the balls in our backyard...

That's how big my belly has gotten...
Emmi started to take showers with me sometimes and she likes to sit by my feet and play with her bath toys while I shower. Yesterday I realized that I can't see her at all when I look down, all I can see is a really big belly and I think she is actually using my belly as a "rain" shield. Kind of funny! And I have 6-8 more weeks to go, this baby is going to double in size until delivery!
Emmi duscht jetzt manchmal mit mir und sitzt dann bei meinen Fuessen und spielt waehrend ich dusche. Gestern habe ich festgestellt dass ich sie ueberhaupt nicht mehr sehen kann wenn ich nach unten gucke, alles was ich sehe ist ein riesiger Bauch und Emmi benutzt den glaub ich als "Regen"schutz. Sehr lustig. Und ich hab noch 6-8 Wochen bis zur Geburt und Baby wird noch ungefaehr doppelt so gross wie jetzt!

30 weeks along...
Ich bin in der 30. Schwangerschaftswoche und Baby und Mama geht es gut. Ich war der Meinung Emmi war schon sehr aktiv im Bauch aber ihr kleiner Bruder oder Schwester ist fast noch besser. Ich frag mich immer wie so ein kleines Baby an so vielen Stellen gleichzeitig treten kann??
I am 30 weeks pregnant and Mama and Baby are doing great. I thought Emmi was active in utero but her little brother or sister is even better. I have no idea how such a small Baby can kick on so many places at the same time. There are literally jumping jacks going on in there all day and night long.

Emmi and the gang
Emmi hat viele Freunde mit denen sie jede Woche in der Spielgruppe spielt aber am liebsten spielt sie mit Teddy Baer, Schaf, Piggie und Tidoo. Sie sitzen mit uns am Tisch zum essen und haben sogar ein Lieblinggericht (muesli) und Emmi kuemmert sich lieb um alle und spielt mit Ihnen. Wir vermuten dass sie die vier so gern hat weil sie nie ohne Erlaubnis ihre Spielsachen anfassen und auch keine Aufmerksamkeit von Mama und Papa brauchen.
Emmi has lots of friends she gets to play with every week in playgroup but she really prefers to play with Teddy Bear, Sheep, Piggie and Tidoo. They get to sit at the table and eat with us and even have a favourite food (Cheerios) and Emmi really takes good care of them and plays with them a lot. We suspect she likes them so much because they never attempt to touch her toys without her permission and they never need Mama and Papa'a attention.

Since this blog is about all the amazing things Emmi does here is an exclusive brag post about our little girl who is obviously the smartest, cutest and funniest 19 months old the world has ever known...
* Emmi is starting to recognize shapes and she can point out hearts and circles which she calls "ircles"
* If she wants to color with her white crayon she knows to get black paper instead of white
* She is using the potty about 5 times a day and is without a diaper most of the time we are at home
* She can take of her shoes, socks & jacket and put on her socks and her shoes most of the time by herself. She is really working on putting on pants on her own.
* She understands all everyday things we talk about in german and english and is using more and more words every day. I am guessing her spoken vocabulary consists of about 100 words, but I do have to admit most of it is probably not understandable to most other poeple just yet. About 80% of her words are in german.
* She loves to color and play with playdough and has an amazing attention span doing so. She will sit and color or playdough for about 30 minutes at a time at least twice a day.
* She can walk up and down the stairs unassisted
* She can put toghether a 24 piece puzzle where she has to match animals with their babies

Kite Festival
Anfang Maerz findet in Austin immer ein grosses Drachenfest statt das wir dieses Jahr zum zweiten Mal besucht haben. Dieses Mal hatten wir auch unseren eigenen Drachen dabei. Zur Teilnahme beim Drachenwettbewerb hat es zwar nicht gereicht, wir haetten vielleicht einen Preis gewonnen fuer den einzigen Drachen der sich nicht laenger als 30 Sekunden in der Luft gehalten hat, aber Spass war es trotzdem. Und beim Wettbewerb fuer das dreckigste Baby haette Emmi auf jeden Fall gewonnen.
We visited the Austin Kite Festival in beginning of March for the second time. This time we brought our own kite. We didn't get to participate in the contest but I am sure we would have won a price for the only kite that didn't stay up for longer then 30 seconds at a time. We had fun anyway. And Emmi would have won the dirtiest Baby contest easily.
