President-elect Barack Obama!!

I don't really like being politically on my blog but I have to comment on that one since it has such a personal effect on me. After 4 years living in the US, being a permanent resident since 2 1/2 years, marrying an American and having a child with an American Passport I can finally identify with the country I live in. He is MY president too!! I can identify with his policies and ideas and I hope he will do a lot of good for this country my children are going to grow up in. Dugan and I are especially excited about the symbolic step this country has taken. Our children are one step closer to living in a country where reaching your dreams isn't restricted by your colour of skin, gender or heritage.

Jetzt muss ich doch mal politisch werden da diese Praesidentenwahl so bedeutend fuer mich ist. Nachdem ich vier Jahre in den USA lebe, seit 2 1/2 Jahren die Green Card habe, einen Amerikaner geheiratet und ein Kind mit amerikanischer Staatsbuergerschaft habe habe ich das erste Mal das Gefuehl mich mit diesem Land identifizieren zu koennen. Obama ist auch mein Praesident! Ich habe das Gefuehl er vertritt meine Einstellung und ich mag seine Ideen und ich hoffe er wird vieles in diesem Land zum Guten veraendern. Dugan und Ich freuen uns besonders ueber die symbolische Bedeutung dieser Wahl da unsere Kinder einen Schritt weiter sind in einem Land zu leben wo es nicht von Bedeutung ist welche Hautfarbe, Herkunft oder Geschlecht jemand hat.
