A Walk in the Woods

Being back in Germany after quite a long time always makes me notice the things I miss and don't miss living far from home in Texas. One thing I definitely miss is being able to just walk into a forest, into an open field or just around some farm land without having to resort to a State Park or risk getting shot for entering private property. On the weekend we did just that and took the kids to explore around the woods. Emmi loved it! We collected some moss to set up the nativity scene at the house, Emmi found lots of different mushrooms and several forts kids had build out of sticks. We met a wild hog which actually scared us a little. And just had a great time walking around the woods.

We landed in Munich Wednesday morning after a long but fortunately uneventful flight. The girls did great with no major meltdowns! And we've been having a great time since...

Opa finally met his youngest granddaughter and it was love at first sight...

...Lily has been showing off her new crawling skills...

...we are starting to get in the holiday spirit...

(even though there hasn't been any snow like Emmi hoped)

Trick or Treat

Halloween war super lustig. Will und Audrey sind mit den Kindern zu unserem Haus gekommen und wir sind alle zusammen Trick or Treating gegangen. Emmi hat ziemlich schnell begriffen um was es geht. Ich durfte garnicht mit ihr zu den Haustueren kommen. Sie hat mir gleich gesagt ich soll weggehen. Allerdings hat sie glaub ich kein einziges Mal "Trick or Treat" gesagt, sondern einfach nur ihren Korb hingehalten sobald eine Tuer aufging. Sie hat einiges an Suessigkeiten eingesammelt, aber zum Glueck sind ihr die noch ziemlich egal ausser es handelt sich um Schokolade. Wir haben sie alles probieren lassen, sie hat aber nur ein bisschen Schokolade und Brause gegessen und wollte dann einen Apfel aus unserer Obstschale haben. Suess! Hoffe mal dass das die naechsten Jahre so bleibt :)

I love Halloween! It was so much fun this year. Will and Audrey came over with the kids and we took them Trick or Treat together. Emmi caught on pretty quick to what it was all about and actually to told me "No Mama, Go" when I tried to come with her to houses doors. I don't think she said "Trick or Treat" once, she just held her bucket out as soon as a door opened. She ended up with quite a bit of candy but luckily she isn't that big into candy yet unless it's chocolate. We let her try it all but she only ate smarties and some kind of Chocolate candy and then asked to eat an apple out of our fruit bowl. Love it! I am curious to see how next year goes ;)

Visiting Doe & Pa

Letztes Wochenende haben wir mal wieder Lily's und Emmi's Urgrosseltern in Rusk besucht. Doe hat vor sechs Wochen ein neues Kniegelenk bekommen und ist noch in einem Altenheim zur Reha. Ich war wirklich stolz auf meine zwei, in zwei Tagen haben wir 8 Stunden im Auto und 8 Stunden in einem Altenheim verbracht und wir sind Sonntag abend ohne Nervenzusammenbruch unsererseits wieder zuhause angekommen. Danke Emmi ;) . Die Zeit die wir nicht im Auto oder Altenheim waren haben wir dann dazu genutzt Doe & Pa's Felder und Waelder zu erforschen. Das fand Emmi toll!

We went and visited Greatgrandparents Doe and Pa last weekend. Doe had a Knee replacement six weeks ago and was still in a nursing home for reha. I was really proud of my two girls. In twoe days we spent 8 hours in the car and 8 hours in a nursing home and we made it back home Sunday night with everybody still in a good mood. Thank you Emmi! Doe and Pa were excited to see the kids. It was the first time they got to meet Lily! We used the rest of the time to explore around the fields and woods at Doe and Pas house, which Emmi loved!

Pumpkin Patch 2009

Seit Emmi's Geburt sind wir jedes Jahr zur Kuerbisfarm gefahren und waren auch dieses Jahr wieder da. Emmi hat sich am meisten auf's Pferdereiten gefreut. Den suessesten Kuerbis haben wir uns gleich geschnappt und mit nach Hause gebracht.

We've been going to the Pumpkin Patch every year since Emmi's birth. Emmi was really looking forward to it this year, especially riding the horses. She wasn't scared at all to be all the way up there! We got to bring home the cutest pumpkin on the patch too :)
