A Walk in the Woods

Being back in Germany after quite a long time always makes me notice the things I miss and don't miss living far from home in Texas. One thing I definitely miss is being able to just walk into a forest, into an open field or just around some farm land without having to resort to a State Park or risk getting shot for entering private property. On the weekend we did just that and took the kids to explore around the woods. Emmi loved it! We collected some moss to set up the nativity scene at the house, Emmi found lots of different mushrooms and several forts kids had build out of sticks. We met a wild hog which actually scared us a little. And just had a great time walking around the woods.

I was going to say, "is that a Javelina?" Perhaps Javelina is Texan for wild hog or they're slightly different. Actually, I think Javelina may have tusks.

Still, I think walking in the woods so naturally would be awesome. We drove down to Bastrop State Park the other day but that was still nearly an hour away.

Everything looks so beautiful!
