Hop! Hop! Hop!

"Hop Hop Hop" is one of Lily's favorite words right now. It's her word for any animal that hops. Our rabbits, horses, frogs... . And her favorite "Hop Hop Hop" at the moment is a frog Papa found in our garage the other day and that now lives in our backyard. And Lily loves to go find it. Every time she remembers it she stand by the backdoor requesting "Hop Hop Hop"! and wants us to go outside. And Emmi being the animal lover she is obviously loved this little critter too.

And who wouldn't fall for those big eyes looking at you?

Well, I didn't. At least not enough to let him live in our house like requested...

...because even though I knew Emmi would take could care of him...

... I thought he might make a run for it and we'd have a free-range frog living in our house...

...so now we have a free-range frog living in our backyard instead.

What a cute little entertainer (your Lily and the froggie). I was going to ask whether it wasn't a toad, but I heard toads clamber and crawl, rather than hop. And you're more likely to encounter one some distance from water. Both of which ring true, as I've come across toads scurrying their way through the autumn leaves a couple of times. I don't know where they were going, but they were in a real hurry, so it must've been somewhere important!
You don't happen to know what type of frog it was, do you? Whatever it is, it's far cuter than the amphibians we get here in the British Isles!

PS I once had a pet frog, a dwarf African frog, who lived in with my tropical fish. He was so cute and entertaining :-) He was an aquatic frog, so he lived underwater all the time and didn't need any special lily pads or piles of stones. Just tubifex worms, which come in big pills and break open underwater...
