Lily's Willkommens Feier

Audrey hat eine Willkommens Party fuer Lily organisiert und alle hatten viel Spass. Lily hat die meiste Zeit geschlafen und hat jede Gelegenheit zum kuscheln genutzt.

Audrey threw Lily a welcome Party and everybody had a great time. Lily slept through half of her party and really enjoyed being snuggled by everybody.

Thank you so much Audrey!!! I am so lucky to have you as my friend!!!

1 month old

Lily had two doctor appointments for her 1 month birthday. The first one was a home visit with this doctor...

Lily hatte zwei Arzttermine fuer ihren ein Monats Geburtstag. Der erste Termin war ein Hausbesuch...

...the second appointment was with our pediatrician who confirmed the findings of the first doctor. Our little girl is doing great!! She has gained 2 pounds and 3 ounces and weighs in at 10 pound 3 ounces!!! WOW!! She has also grown a bit and is now 21.5 inches long.

... der zweite Termin war mit unserer Kinderaerztin die die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung mit der anderen Aerztin bestaetigt hat. Lily geht es super!! Sie hat schon 1 kilo zugenommen und wiegt jetzt 4700 gramm. Und gewachsen ist sie auch, Lily ist 54,5 cm lang.

Haarig

Emmi hat nach fast zwei Jahren endlich genug Haare auf dem Kopf dass ich ihr auch mal ein Zoepfchen machen kann. Zumindest theoretisch. Bis jetzt hat Emmi mich immer schoen brav Spangen und Gummis in ihr Haar machen lassen um sie dann innerhalb von einer Minute wieder alle rauszumachen. Bis heute :-)

Im Gegensatz dazu bekommt meine andere Tochter nach drei Wochen mit zumindest ein paar Haaren auf dem Kopf nach und nach eine Halbglatze :(

Ueber der Stirn sind die Haare schon weg...

After almost two years Emmi has finally enough hair for me to make little pigtails. At least theoretically. She is great at letting me put pigtails and bourettes in, just to pick everything back out within seconds. Until today :) She told me they were "petty" and left them in for almost an hour!!

Lily on the other hand is starting to loose the only few hairs she had. She is already bald above her forehead and the hairline is regressing daily :(

Hoch das Koepfchen

Lily ist drei Wochen alt und kann schon schoen ihren Kopf hoch halten. Genau wie ihre Schwester Emmi in dem Alter.

Lily is three weeks old and is already holding her head up very well. Just like her big sister at this age...

Bath time

Lily's Nabelschnur ist vor einigen Tagen abgefallen, das heisst sie darf jetzt richtig baden anstatt der Katzenwaesche mit dem Schwamm. Sie kann ihren Kopf schon schoen alleine halten und daher auch schon in ihrem Badeeimer sitzen, was sie auch sichtilich geniesst. Emmi hilft natuerlich beim baden :) . Aber selbst vom gelegentlichen Schwall Wasser in den Augen laesst sie sich Lily den Badespass nicht verderben.

Lily's Umbilical Cord fell off a few days ago, so she graduated from a sponge bath to a real bath. She has been holding her head up very well, so she is able to sit in her bath bucket which she really enjoys. Emmi helps us bath her of course. Lily has been a good sport and doesn't seem to mind the occasional water in her eyes.

36 Grad im Schatten

Bei 36 Grad im Schatten gehen wir fast jeden Tag mit Emmi zum Pool. In ein paar Wochen darf dann auch Lily am kuehlen Vergnuegen teilnehmen. Im Moment bleibt sie noch im Buggy und schneidet Grimassen.

With temperatures around 100 degrees there is nowhere else to go but the Pool. Lily get's to join in in a few weeks, but for now she has to hang out with Mama by the side and make faces...

3+1=4

Es ist langsam Zeit das ich die Ereignisse ueber die letzen 10 Tage mal zusammen fasse. 

Wie ja inzwischen alle wissen ist Lily am 24. Mai geboren. Wie ihre Schwester 2 Tage nach ihrem errechneten Geburtstermin. Ich war schon wieder ueberzeugt fuer immer schwanger zu sein als Lily sich doch noch entschlossen hat uns endlich kennenzulernen. Und als sie dann raus wollte konnte sie es auch fast gar nicht erwarten. 

Die ersten Wehen kamen um 4 Uhr in der Frueh. Und von da an ging es auch recht schnell. Nachdem ich aufgestanden bin und zwischen Wehen noch schnell Waesche gefaltet und aufgeraeumt habe habe ich um halb sechs Dugan aufgeweckt und bin dann in die Badewanne da es langsam schmerzhaft wurde. Dugan hat die Koffer ins Auto geladen und last minute Vorbereitungen getroffen. Dugans Mutter war schon in der Stadt bei Dugans Cousine und war um 7 Uhr bei uns um auf Emmi aufzupassen. Um 7:45 Uhr haben wir uns von Emmi verabschiedet und sind ins Krankenhaus gefahren. Zum Glueck war es ein Sonntag. Waeren wir zur selben Zeit unter der Woche gefahren haetten wir eine Stunde zum Krankenhaus gebraucht anstatt 20 Minuten und dann waehre es schon knapp geworden! So sind wir um kurz nach 8 im Krankenhaus angekommen. Nach 45 Minuten Wehen ohne Pause kamen die Presswehen und Lily war kurze Zeit spaeter da! Nachdem ich Lily gleich auf den Bauch gelegt bekommen habe, haben wir beide keine Zeit verloren herauszufinden ob wir einen Jungen oder ein Maedchen haben. Ich war die ganze Schwangerschaft ueberzeugt wir bekommen einen Jungen, da war die Ueberraschung gross! Dugan hat wie bei Emmi die Nabelschnur durchgeschnitten.

Wir hatten geplant wenige Stunden nach der Geburt nach Hause zu gehen, was hier nicht ueblich ist und daher von vorherein fraglich war. Da Montag ein Feiertag war und wir deshalb keinen Termin beim Kinderarzt machen konnten mussten wir dann auch eine Nacht im Krankenhaus bleiben. 24 Stunden nach der Geburt ging es dann endlich nach hause. 

Inzwischen haben uns alle schon ganz gut ans Familienleben zu viert gewoehnt. Emmi ist eine super grosse Schwester und ganz lieb mit Lily. Das Video ist von unserem ersten Tag zuhause.

Dugan konnte nur einen Tag Urlaub nehmen was schade war, aber Dugans Mutter war die ganze letzte Woche hier um mir mit den Kindern zu helfen. Ich habe mich viel schneller erholt als nach Emmi's Geburt und war innerhalb von ein paar Tagen voellig schmerzfrei. Stillen klappt super und Lily hat in 9 Tagen schon  200 gramm zugenommen. Seit Montag bin ich mit den Kindern tagsueber alleine und bis jetzt klappt alles super. Die Muetter von Emmi's Spielgruppe und unsere Nachbarn haben uns seit Lily's Geburt mit Essen versorgt was eine grosse Hilfe ist und Dugan kommt nachmittags diese Woche ein bisschen frueher nach Hause. Lily schlaeft noch die meiste Zeit, aber das wird sich wohl bald aendern :)

It's about time to write down everything that's happened over the past 10 days. Like everybody probably knows by now, Lily was born on May 24th. Two days past her EDD, just like her sister. I was convinced again I'd be pregnant forever when Lily decided to finally come meet us. And when she decided to come, she didn't loose any time.

Contractions started around 4 am in the morning. Things happened pretty quick after that. I got up and folded some laundry and did some last minute preparations and finally woke up Dugan around 5:30 am. I had to get in the tub at that point since contractions started to get intense and Dugan packed up the car and got everything ready. Dugans Mom was already in town visiting his cousin and came over around seven to stay with Emmi. We left for the hospital around 7:45 am. Luckily it was a Sunday. Going to the hospital at this time during the week would have taken us about 1 hour instead of 20 minutes and we maybe wouldn't have made it. We did make it to the hospital around 8 and I went into transition shortly after with contractions coming on top of eachother for the next 45 minutes. It took 2 pushing contractions and Lily was born! She was put right on to my belly and Dugan and I both didn't loose any time checking if she was a boy or a girl. I was convinced we were having a boy most of the pregnancy, so we were really surprised! Dugan cut the cord just like he did with Emmi.

We had planned to leave the hospital just a few hours after birth, but with Monday being a holiday we couldn't make the required appointment with the pediatrician the day after. So we spent one night at the hospital and got to go home the next morning.

We have been adjusting to life as a family of four pretty well. Emmi has been a great big sister and is super sweet with Lily. The video was taken the day we came home from the hospital.

Dugan only got to take one vacation day, but his Mom stayed with us all of last week which was great. Especially for keeping Emmi busy. I recovered really well and a lot faster then I did with Emmi and was pain free withhin just a few days. Nursing is going great and Lily had gained 5 oz already 9 days after birth. I am on my own during the day with both kids since Monday and it's been going good so far. The Moms from Emmi's playgroup and our neighbours have been bringing us food which has been super helpful and Dugan has been able to at least come home early every day this week. Lily is still sleeping most of the day, but I am sure this will change soon :)
